Introduction To Robotics: EXPentech Future Vision for Syria
Today’s world’s technology is rapidly evolving and pushing boundaries like never before. Robotics, in particular, is the cornerstone when it comes to transforming industries and changing our lifestyles. Unfortunately, Syria is slowly adapting to robotics and technologies, nevertheless, our country has plenty of potential and resources for future development. EXPentech, as an engineering solution company, is aware of the role of robotics in Syria’s development and is working to integrate robotics into many projects under development. This article is an introduction to the field of robotics and its future expectations in Syrian applications as we can see it.
What is Robotics?
Robotics is the field of study related to the design, construction, operation, and application of robots. Robots are machines capable of performing repetitive, mundane tasks that people find boring and time-consuming, or on the contrary, they can perform dangerous and complex ones. Either way, they help accomplish tasks effectively, precisely, productively, and -more importantly- safely. Robotics has already moved many industries to higher levels starting from manufacturing, health care, and services, ending with aerospace, among others.
Robots Structure
Robots are a result of integrating several fields of study including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence. The mechanical part of the robot acts like the physical body of the robot. It includes the mechanical parts and selection of materials, proper motors, actuators, and sensors. The electrical part of the robot acts like the nerves of the body that transmit information and orders from and to actuators and sensors. This part includes any circuit or electrical component that may be needed in a robot. The brain of the robot called the controller is the most important part and it decides how advanced the robot is. The robot could be pre-programmed so he can perform a set of pre-defined tasks, or he can learn through artificial intelligence algorithms. All these components join together enabling the robot to do tasks as required with or without human guidance.
Future Expectations of Robotics in Syria
Robotics studies in Syria are still in the infancy stage due to many circumstances. The bright side of this situation is that Syria has plenty of resources represented by the number of extraordinary engineers in many fields such as mechatronics, control systems, software engineering…etc. The obstacles to advances are the lack of funds and awareness of robotics’ importance and advantages. The EXPentech team aims to overcome these obstacles in the future by always providing the most advanced solutions in both self-funded projects and client projects. Our vision included the following areas:
- Marketing: integration of robotics into marketing activities will improve sales processes, customer services…etc.
- Manufacturing: designing fully automated production lines in all fields of industry in Syria like the food industry, medical industry, and automation. Robots can perform repetitive tasks like painting and welding or assembly.
- Healthcare: robots could be used in surgery, medical imaging, rehabilitation…etc.
- Agriculture: Automating agriculture tasks would be a step forward for us all. Planting, harvesting, and crop monitoring are examples of tasks that could be achieved by robots.
- Services: any robot that assists humans to perform a task is called a service robot. This category includes domestic robots, events robots…etc.
When efforts do focus on robotics, it will be a matter of time before we witness many life-changing products and technologies in markets that are made in Syria.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the field of robotics is growing rapidly with advancements in technology especially
in material engineering and artificial intelligence fields. As the potential implementations of robotics are increasing, more industries will be expected to embrace robotics. EXPentech team considers its job to increase awareness of robotics, present advanced engineering ideas, and transform them into products to improve the quality of life in Syria.
